Support
Help, troubleshooting, and contact info for the Rendezspot iOS app. Most things are answered below — if not, email us and we'll dig in.
Common questions
Do I need an account to use Rendezspot?
No. Rendezspot has no sign-up. You're identified by your existing iCloud session (used only for end-to-end encrypted meeting storage) and a display name you choose. Nobody can search for you by phone number, email, or username.
Is my location shared with the company?
No. Rendezspot has no servers we control. Your location stays on your device until you choose a privacy mode that shares it with only the participants in one specific meeting. Within that meeting, location updates auto-expire after about 10 minutes, and the entire meeting is deleted when it ends. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
How do I switch privacy modes?
Tap the privacy pill at the top of any meeting screen. Each tap cycles Ghost → ETA-only → Near-meeting → Full Map → Ghost. Switching to Ghost or ETA-only mid-meeting immediately wipes any coordinates you'd previously shared.
Does Rendezspot work without internet?
Yes. With no signal, Rendezspot automatically uses Bluetooth and Apple's Multipeer Connectivity to sync with people physically near you — great for festivals, weddings, hikes, and concerts.
Can I use Rendezspot with non-iPhone friends?
Rendezspot is iPhone-only today (iOS 17 and newer). Android support is on the roadmap but not committed.
Can I plan recurring meetups?
Not yet. Recurring meetups, meeting templates, and saved spots are on the roadmap.
Troubleshooting
I can't open an invite link
- Both devices should be on iOS 17 or newer.
- A first install may need one "Open in Rendezspot" tap from Safari before iOS knows the link belongs to the app.
- The invite may have been revoked — ask the host for a fresh link.
- Tap the link from Messages or Mail rather than pasting it — universal-link routing needs the tap to come from a system app.
Still stuck? Open the app, tap Join with Code, and enter the 6-character meeting code from the invite. The link and the code resolve to the same meeting.
Other people don't see my location
Most likely you're in Ghost or ETA-only mode — tap the privacy pill at the top of the meeting and switch to Near-meeting or Full Map. If you're already on Full Map and still not visible, check:
- Location permission: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Rendezspot → "While Using" or "Always."
- Precise Location is on in the same panel (approximate location won't give a usable dot).
- Low Power Mode can pause background location — disable it during the meeting, or grant "Always."
- iCloud sign-in: without iCloud, sync falls back to the offline transports, which need participants near you in person.
Bluetooth / offline sync isn't working
- Make sure Bluetooth is on (Control Center, then Settings → Bluetooth).
- Local Network permission must be ON: Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network → Rendezspot.
- Devices need to be physically close — Bluetooth range is roughly 10 metres.
- Force-quit and relaunch Rendezspot on both devices to re-run discovery.
Notifications aren't arriving
- Settings → Notifications → Rendezspot → Allow Notifications must be ON.
- Settings → General → Background App Refresh → Rendezspot.
- After an update, open the app once so it re-registers for iCloud push.
I want to delete a meeting
- As a host: open the meeting, scroll down, tap End Meeting → Delete & Wipe Cloud Data. This atomically deletes the CloudKit zone — every location, memory, and message goes with it, instantly, on every participant's device.
- As a participant: swipe a meeting in the home list and tap Leave. Your local copy is wiped immediately.
I want to delete everything
Delete the app. That removes the local store. Any meetings still in your iCloud are cleaned up by Apple's iCloud lifecycle when the host ends them or when the idle window expires.
I need to send you a diagnostic bundle
In the app: Profile → Settings → Diagnostics → Export. This produces a .zip of log snapshots and feature-flag state — coordinates are never included. Email it to [email protected] with a one-line description of what went wrong.
